A Brief History of St. Patrick Cemetery
Founded in 1832, the Catholic Burial Ground, later known as St. Patrick Cemetery, is the resting place of the first generation Irish pioneers who arrived in Lowell. The simple slate markers later turned to grand, granite monuments as the Irish became the politicians, businessmen, and religious leaders of the city.
